As Climate Week NYC draws global attention to urban resilience, Sidara companies are coming together to celebrate with a series of events highlighting excellence in sustainable design within the built environment.
On Thursday, the Kimmel Center in Manhattan will host a full day of sessions in collaboration with NYU, as part of the annual Sidara Sustainable Cities Summit. The event will feature leading experts from TYLin, Introba and Currie & Brown alongside key partners including NYU, MIT, C40 Cities, and the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator.
The day’s discussions will focus on how urban leaders can adopt forward-thinking strategies to embed sustainability into policy, dismantle institutional barriers, and build resilient, thriving cities for the future.
Topics will include climate-responsive infrastructure and the role of AI and data in reducing emissions in dense urban environments like New York. Throughout the day, experts from across Sidara companies will share practical insights and project experiences that are helping to cut emissions and protect biodiversity.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Perkins&Will and TYLin will partner with LACI at BATWorks in the Brooklyn Army Terminal to host an interactive session showcasing cutting-edge practices that support material circularity.
Climate Week NYC features more than 900 events and activities across New York City. Running from 21 to 28 September, it brings together business leaders, policymakers, local officials, and civil society representatives from around the world.
Michael Shamma, New York Metro Executive at TYLin, commented: “Our firms have long harnessed the power of planning and design to help make New York – and cities around the world – healthier, more livable places. But designing solutions is only part of the equation. We also need to amplify the message.”
“Climate Week New York gives us a platform to join forces with our clients and peers, to challenge perspectives, exchange ideas, and inspire action. With the brightest minds working together, we can create a greener, healthier, and more prosperous future.”
Dawn Miller, Senior Climate Advisor, City of New York, said: “Now, more than ever, cities must lead on climate and mobility policy. When we look hard enough and act with conviction, we find we have more tools than we think. This summit and guide will be valuable resource for cities taking their community’s health into their own hands.”
