A strategy for the digital transformation of a hospital.

A technological revolution

Providing the right care to the right patient at the right time depends on being able to accurately evaluate patient needs and effectively manage hospital resources. Digital transformation can improve the ability of care providers to make better decisions in both of these areas – and improve the quality, efficiency, and overall patient experience.

Introba, one of Sidara’s specialist building engineering and digital consultants, led Thomas Jefferson University Health – the largest health system in the Philadelphia region – in the development of their digital transformation strategy roadmap.

They took the opportunity to revisit how they deliver healthcare while building a new Specialty Care Pavilion on their Center City Philadelphia campus that will consolidate many of their nationally ranked services in one location.

Optimizing operations and enabling better decision-making

To devise the roadmap, the Introba team evaluated safety and security aspects, as well as overall facilities management. This included conducting a holistic assessment of the current state of multiple systems, including building automation, computerized maintenance management, access control & video surveillance, and network monitoring.

Special focus and advisory services were provided on OT devices, information, and cybersecurity policies and procedures to mitigate risk and increase availability. We also provided operational guidance on a joint network operations center including an operational model, physical design peer review, and a financial model.

To build on these findings, technology visioning workshops were held to engage users interactively, where they helped identify what future capabilities would be needed and could be enabled by the digital transformation.

Finally, patient experience technology use cases and integrations were included in a comprehensive study to optimize workflows and process journeys in all clinical and administrative functions.

Revitalizing care in the community

Optimizing their operations and equipping their care providers to make better decisions demonstrates Jefferson’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of the region.

By helping Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia embark on a digital transformation, Introba is helping to ensure the almost 200-year-old establishment continues to revolutionize the care and technology it provides its patients.

Serving patients throughout the Delaware Valley through a robust network of 18 hospitals in 5 counties, Jefferson Health is also one of only 70 NCI-designated cancer centers in the country. Their digital transformation will change the lives of many people, by creating a seamless patient experience and unparalleled convenience.
